Cape May

Cape May is absolutely darling. There are dozens and dozens of beautiful Victorian houses as well as a huge sandy beach and lots of charming little shops. It's a very touristy and beachy little town. Also there are a couple lovely little taffy/ fudge shops that I would highly recommend.
Yesterday we walked 1.5 miles to the bus station, then took a half hour bus ride from Wildwood to Cape May. By the time we got there we were all wilting with hunger, so we stopped at a restaurant where I got a big stack of pancakes. (YUM.) Then we walked along the beach and picked out our favorite Victorian mansions. After a peaceful afternoon of looking around the town, we got back on the bus and then hiked the rest of the way from the bus station to the boat.
Today we will be sailing/ motoring up the Delaware May towards the C&D Canal. I'm excited to get into the Chesapeake Bay- it's supposed to be really fun to explore in a boat. I'm going to go up on deck to help sail now. Unfortunately, my computer is being fussy (again) and not letting me upload pictures of some of our favorite houses, but I'll try again later!

  1. I shared a bit of your blog with Ailene Weddell this morning. We have been having rain, too. I think the chickens will have webbed feet by this weekend!
Thank you, again, for sharing your trip. It is great for those of us that aren't quite that adventurous.

  2. Hi Mary -
I trust things have dried out a bit! That was a whopper of a storm - we heard about it in Alaska. May better weather await you!
Things here are normal. Winter is about 1000' above us where the local mountains are already snow-covered. There's been no real accumulation yet in the yard though. The boys are enjoying school as always, but THEY have to go to a CLASSROOM, with 4 walls and a TEACHER! Not like you, whose classroom slides by starboard daily, or is in the cabin reading or at the helm (or setting your mom straight on things). Awesome.
Remember, when things look bleak, adventures almost always involve a little "down time" but they are also always the icing on life's cake, so eat it up, kid.

    Love Uncle Tooper
